This is a very long ship
Common things. Drawings as memories, and memories as brief flashes that cling to images. Moments without significance – windows, barns, everyday objects – found in Friesland during the summer of 2025.
José Quintanar (Madrid) is an Amsterdam-based artist whose work examines the book as a primary space for drawing, understood both as play and as a structured process. He is represented by Florence Loewy Gallery (Paris) and is currently completing a Ph.D. with a thesis titled The Book as Public Space. His publications include Dutch Landscape (Rollo Press, 2024) and Good Morning or Good Luck (Terry Bleu, 2021 and 2025). He has also collaborated with international organisations such as Hermès, The New York Times, Esquire, or Bloomberg Businessweek.
